Dialogues About Justice: The Public, Legislators, Courts and the Media

The year 2002 marks the 20th anniversary of the Charter. The Supreme Court of Canada has noted the importance, in the Charter era, of dialogues between the courts and the legislatures. The media, as a window on the justice system for the public, seeks increased information about the operation of legal institutions. Some members of the public nevertheless feel excluded from participation in the law-making process and from a role in the justice system.
